Community Profile The Town of Avon is located five miles west of Indianapolis and is included as part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Actual origin of the name Avon is unknown. Retailers have taken every available frontage foot along US 36. Most are east of the SR 267 intersection. Major retailers include Meijer's, Menard's and Lowe's.
